Packing Checklist: complete guide
Walk through the steps and examples, or jump straight to the topic you need.
At a glance
- What you choose
- Number of nights, season, purpose, how you get there, who you're with, and domestic or abroad.
- How it suggests
- Only items whose conditions are all met go into the list.
- Quantities
- Underwear and socks are nights plus one, pants one for every two days, and everything else one.
- What it keeps
- Even if you change the conditions, the items you've already packed and the items you added yourself stay.
- What it doesn't do
- It doesn't save anything. It disappears when you refresh.
- Limits
- Up to 60 nights and up to 50 items you add yourself.
How to use Packing Checklist
Choose the length of the trip and the conditions
For a day trip, enter 0 nights. Items needed only for one or more nights, such as pajamas and an accommodation confirmation, are left out.
Remove what you don't need
Press the X beside an item and it disappears from the list. The suggestions are only a starting point, so tailor them to your trip.
Add what is missing
Items you add with "Add your own" don't disappear even if you change the conditions. Put things that differ from person to person, such as medicine or equipment, here.
Mark things as you pack
Tap each item as you put it in the bag, and you can see at the top how many are left. You can also move the list into your notes with Copy list.
What it’s good for
It suggests only what fits your conditions
A passport is added to the list only when you travel abroad, and insect bite cream only when it is summer and you are going outdoors. An item that has several conditions appears only when all of them are met. A list mixed with lots of things you don't need ends up not being read through.
It raises the quantity only for things that scale
Underwear and socks are counted as the number of nights plus one, and pants as one for every two days. A toothbrush and a charger are one no matter how many days. If every item's quantity grew in proportion to the length of the trip, a three-day trip would list three toothbrushes, and from that moment you would stop trusting the list.

| Item | Quantity | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Underwear, socks, tops | As many as the days | You change every day. It counts through the day you return. |
| Pants | One for every two days | You usually wear the same pair for two days. |
| Toothbrush, charger | Always one | One is enough no matter how many days. |
When the result isn’t what you expected
An item I need isn't on the list
It didn't match the conditions. If you add it with "Add your own," it stays even when you change the conditions.
My marks disappeared
They disappear when you refresh, because nothing is saved. To keep them, press Copy list and move it into your notes.
The quantities are too many
If you can do laundry where you're staying, try entering fewer nights than the real number. Only the quantities go down, and the rest of the list stays the same.
Key terms
- Night
- The number of nights you stay away. For 2 nights and 3 days, enter 2.
- Condition
- The situation in which an item is needed, such as season, purpose, or how you get there.
Packing Checklist FAQ
Do my marks disappear if I change the conditions?
They don't. The list is rebuilt, but the items you've already packed and the items you added yourself stay as they are.
Is the list saved?
It isn't saved. It disappears when you refresh. To keep it, press Copy list and move it into your notes.
Is this a complete list?
No. It is a starting point that gathers commonly forgotten items. Add things that differ from person to person, such as medicine or equipment, yourself.
Can I manage several trips separately?
For now it handles one at a time. Move it out with Copy list.
Does it tell me the carry-on rules too?
It only notes widely known ones, such as power banks. Rules differ by airline, so it doesn't make a judgment.
Where does what I enter go?
Nowhere. It stays only on this browser screen.
