Unit Price Comparison: complete guide
Walk through the steps and examples, or jump straight to the topic you need.
At a glance
- Items to compare
- Compares up to 10 items at a time. There are two by default, and you add more when needed.
- Supported units
- Supports g and kg (weight), ml and L (volume), and pieces (count).
- Standard unit price
- Converted to a price per 100 g for weight, per 100 ml for volume, and per piece for count.
- Total amount
- Calculated as the size of one unit × the number of units in the pack.
- Input range
- Price and size must be greater than 0 and less than 1 trillion, and the number of units must be a whole number from 1 to 100,000.
- Comparison rules
- Weight, volume, and count are not converted into one another. Items of a different kind are left out of the comparison with a reason.
- Currency
- Uses the label you typed as is. It doesn't do exchange-rate conversion or look up actual selling prices.
- Display
- Unit prices are shown rounded to two decimal places, and the order is decided by the values before rounding.
How to use Unit Price Comparison
Enter the price of each item to compare
Enter the selling price exactly as printed on the shelf or the product page. The currency label is only there to be shown on screen and is not used in the calculation. Don't mix different currencies.
Match the size of one unit and its unit
Enter the size of one unit inside the pack and choose the unit. Decimals such as 1.2 kg can be entered as they are. If products mix g and ml, they must be unified to one kind to be compared.
Enter the number of units in the pack
Use 1 for a single item and 6 for a 6-pack. The total amount is calculated as the size of one unit × the number of units in the pack and shown right below the card.
Check the standard unit price and the difference
Results are sorted from the lowest unit price. They show the difference from the cheapest item and how many percent more expensive each one is, so you can judge whether the bulk size is actually a better deal. You can copy the comparison result.
What it’s good for
Find out whether bulk or a multipack is cheaper
Enter the price, the size of one unit, and the number of units in the pack for each item, and the tool calculates the total amount and gives a standard unit price. Even when units differ, such as one 1.2 kg bag versus a small 250 g pack, they are compared after converting to grams. Results are sorted from the lowest unit price, and show the difference from the cheapest item and how many percent more expensive each one is.
Why only items of the same kind are compared
Weight, volume, and count can't be converted into one another. If you mix grams and milliliters, there is no way to tell which is cheaper, so the kind you entered most is used as the basis, and items of other kinds are left out of the comparison with a reason. If the product labels are split between g and ml, unify them to one basis and enter them again.
Worked examples
Comparing one bulk bag with a small pack
Bulk 12,000 KRW · 1.2kg · pack of 1
Small pack 3,000 KRW · 250g · pack of 1Bulk 1,000 KRW/100g (lowest)
Small pack 1,200 KRW/100g (+200 KRW · 20% more)Comparing a multipack with a single item
6-pack 9,000 KRW · 500ml · pack of 6
Single 1,600 KRW · 500ml · pack of 16-pack 300 KRW/100ml (lowest)
Single 320 KRW/100ml (+20 KRW · 6.67% more)Comparison basis by unit

| Volume | ml, L | Price per 100 ml |
| Count | piece | Price per piece |
When the result isn’t what you expected
Some items were left out of the comparison
Items with different unit types can't be compared. The kind you entered most is used as the basis, and the rest are left out with a reason. Check the product labels, unify to either g or ml, and enter them again.
I entered values but no result appears
Price and size must be greater than 0, and the number of units must be a whole number of 1 or more. The reason is shown below the field with a problem, and the comparison of the other items continues.
The unit prices are equal but the ranking differs
Displayed values are rounded to two decimal places. If the values before rounding differ, the one that is actually cheaper comes first and a note appears. If the values are exactly equal, both items are shown as lowest and tied.
I want to compare weight and volume together
Without knowing density, grams and milliliters can't be converted, so this isn't supported. If a product label shows both weight and volume, pick one kind and enter it the same way for all items.
Key terms
- Standard unit price
- A price that puts items of different sizes on the same amount so they can be compared.
- Units in pack
- The number of single units contained in one product. It is multiplied in when calculating the total amount.
- Tie
- A state where the unit prices are exactly the same, even before rounding.
Unit Price Comparison FAQ
What is the unit price based on?
The total amount is the size of one unit × the number of units in the pack. It is converted to a price per 100 g for weight, per 100 ml for volume, and per piece for count, and shown to two decimal places.
Can items priced in dollars or yen be compared too?
The currency label is only shown on screen as typed. Different currencies are not converted with exchange rates, so compare prices in the same currency.
The unit prices look the same but the order is different
Displayed values are rounded to two decimal places. If the values before rounding differ, the one that is actually cheaper comes first, and a note says they look the same. Exactly equal unit prices are shown as a tie.
Are discounted prices or reward points reflected?
They are not. Enter the amount you will actually pay directly in the price field. To factor in coupons, reward points, and shipping, compare using the price with those values added.
How many items can I compare at once?
You can add up to 10 items. There are two fields by default, and you can add more with Add item or remove them with the remove button on each card.
Are the prices I enter saved?
No. Calculation happens only inside this browser, and the input doesn't remain once you leave the page.
