How it works and good to know
The editor is the GenOffice (Apache-2.0) document editor adapted for the browser; about 20 MB (including fonts) is downloaded the first time it opens. .docx files up to 50 MB can be opened and are saved back as docx downloads. Old .doc files and password-protected documents cannot be opened — save as docx or remove the password in Word first. Fonts not installed on your device are shown with a similar font, but the original font names are kept when you save. Desktop features such as AI, mail merge and printing are not included here. It works best on a wide screen; on a phone the menus may look cramped. Files are handled only in this browser and are never sent to a server.

Edit a document you received without Word
Sometimes you only need to change a few lines in a docx from work or school and you don't have Word. This editor opens the document only inside your browser, lets you edit text and formatting such as bold, color, fonts and alignment, tables, pictures and lists, and then saves it back as docx. The editor is a port of the open-source GenOffice (Apache-2.0) document editor for the browser.
The first time takes some preparation
The editor and the Korean and English fonts (about 20MB) are downloaded once when you open it for the first time. After that the browser remembers them and it opens faster. Fonts that aren't on your computer are shown with similar fonts, but when you save, the original font names are kept, so opening it in Word shows the original fonts.
What it can't do
It can't open old .doc files or password-protected documents. Save as docx in Word or remove the password and then open it. Desktop features like mail merge, printing and AI are missing. Hangul (hwp) documents can be edited in the Hangul viewer.

Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. The document is opened and saved only inside this browser and disappears when you close the page. If there are unsaved changes, the browser asks once more when you leave the page.
Does it work on a phone?
You can open and edit, but the many menus look cramped. For lots of table and formatting edits, a wider screen is recommended.
Can large files be opened?
It opens files up to 50MB. Documents with many photos may take a little longer to open.
