How to use Fill PDF Forms
Add a PDF
The document is drawn on the left, and the tool finds the form fields and overlays them. Even with no fields at all, you can fill it by adding text.
Fill it in on the preview
Click a field and type. Choice fields offer only the options in the document, and a text field tells you right away if you exceed its length. Locked and signature fields stay as they are. For an empty spot with no field, turn on adding text and click to place new text; you can drag it or nudge it with the arrow keys.
Decide whether to lock
Turn locking on only when you send the final version. For a document that is passed around, leave it off so the recipient can keep filling it in.
Create and save
Click the button to create the filled file, and the result's file name and size appear. If any characters couldn't be drawn, you are told at this point.
What it’s good for
It fills the fields that are already in the document
You don't need to print and write by hand or install another program. The tool finds the form fields already built into the document and lays them out on screen. It handles text fields as well as yes/no checkboxes, pick-one options, dropdowns and lists in the way that suits each type. Fields that already hold a value show that value, so you only change what you need.
It follows the rules the document sets
The tool respects each field's maximum length and the choices the document allows. If you go over the length or enter a choice that isn't in the document, it tells you before you save. Fields the document has locked are not changed and are marked as locked. This is to reduce the chance that the file comes back because it doesn't meet the rules when the recipient opens it.
Choose whether to lock the fields
If you turn on locking the fields, what you filled in is flattened like a picture and can no longer be edited. This suits a final version you are sending out. If you turn it off, the fields stay so the recipient can keep filling them in. Leave it off for a document that is passed around for completion.

| Sending the final version | On | The content is flattened and can't change on the recipient's side. |
| Passing it around to complete | Off | The fields remain so the next person can keep filling them in. |
| A copy for the record | On | Prevents accidental edits later. |
When the result isn’t what you expected
It says there are no fields to fill
This PDF has no form fields built in. Lines drawn on screen are not fields if they are part of the picture. In that case, turn on adding text and type directly where you want it.
I want to change text that is already printed
You can't. This tool only fills form fields and places new text in empty spots. To erase or change the original body text, get the source file from whoever made the document.
Korean text shows as blanks
The character isn't in this site's font. You are told which character in which field before saving, so try replacing Chinese characters or special symbols with another expression.
The field names are hard to understand
Field names are set by whoever made the document, so they may be in another language or just numbers. Open the original alongside to check positions while you fill it in.
I need to change a locked field
The document's author blocked it from being edited. This tool can't unlock it, so ask the sender for a revised version.

Fill PDF Forms FAQ
Can it fill signature fields?
No. An electronic signature is valid only when it carries the signer and the time with it, so typing a value into a signature field does not make a signature. If you need a stamp or a handwritten signature image, create one with the signature maker and place it on the document.
Does it work with a PDF that has no form fields?
Yes. Fields built into the document are filled right where they are, and for a document without fields you place text wherever you want it.
Will Korean text be garbled?
Text is drawn with the Korean font bundled with this site. If your text includes a character that font doesn't have, the tool tells you which character in which field before you save, and you can choose to save as is or rephrase it.
Is my document uploaded to a server?
No. Reading the file, filling fields and saving all happen inside this browser.
Can I fill several documents at once?
For now it fills one document at a time. A feature for making many copies of the same form is not included.
Can I save the values I filled in and reuse them?
No. If you reload, the values are gone. What you enter is not stored anywhere.
Can I undo a locked file?
No. It's safer to keep the original separately before you lock.
