How it works and good to know

Processing runs qpdf 12.2 (Apache 2.0) as WebAssembly in a dedicated worker in this browser. Adding a password uses AES-256 (R6), and print, copy and edit restrictions are set together with a permissions password. A password is removed only when qpdf confirms the one you entered is correct; files with only a permissions password also need that password to be unlocked. Passwords are never guessed or brute-forced. Each created file is reopened before download to check its password state and structure. Files up to 100 MB.

This tool never guesses or brute-forces passwords. Remove password makes an unlocked copy when you already know the password, so you don’t have to type it every time. Processing runs qpdf 12.2 (Apache 2.0) in this browser; your file and password are never sent or stored anywhere.
