    How to use

Everything you enter is processed only in this browser.

Open the PDF whose text you want to change

    2. 02

Click the text to change, then delete it or type new words

    3. 03

How it works and good to know

The editor is the GenOffice (Apache-2.0) PDF editor adapted for the browser; about 8 MB is downloaded the first time it opens. .pdf files up to 50 MB can be opened. It changes the text inside the PDF itself rather than covering it with a white box. New text is drawn with the PDF’s own font, and characters that font lacks are drawn with the built-in Korean font (a Noto Sans KR subset: the 2,350 common Hangul syllables, Latin letters and digits). Characters missing from both, such as Chinese characters and Japanese, cannot be typed in. Scanned pages are pictures, not text, so they cannot be edited. Save as Word converts what you see into a docx download. Desktop features such as AI, OCR, printing and certificate signing are not included here. Files are handled only in this browser and are never sent to a server.

Edit PDF Text — Change Existing Words guide

It changes the text itself instead of covering it

Sometimes you only need to fix one date or one letter of a name in a PDF and you don’t have Acrobat. Many PDF tools put a white box over the old text and place new text on top, but this editor changes the text inside the PDF itself. The edited text can still be selected, copied and searched, and the old words don’t stay hidden underneath. The editor is a port of the open-source GenOffice (Apache-2.0) PDF editor for the browser.

    Which characters you can type

New text is drawn with the original font embedded in the PDF. Characters that font lacks are drawn with the bundled Korean font (a Noto Sans KR subset: the 2,350 common Hangul syllables, Latin letters and digits). Characters missing from both, such as Chinese characters, Japanese or rare Hangul syllables, cannot be typed in. Scanned PDFs are pictures rather than text, so they cannot be edited.

    Save as Word too

If there is a lot to change, press Save as Word to turn it into a docx and edit it in Word instead. It converts exactly what you see on screen. To put pictures, signatures or highlights on top of the page, use PDF Editor.

Edit PDF Text — Change Existing Words FAQ

Is my file uploaded to a server?

No. The PDF is opened and saved only inside this browser and disappears when you close the page. If there are unsaved changes, the browser asks once more when you leave the page.

Can I type Chinese characters or Japanese?

Only if the PDF’s original font contains them. Otherwise they are not in the built-in Korean font either, so they cannot be typed in.

    Can large files be opened?

It opens files up to 50MB. PDFs with many pages may take a little longer to open.
