    How to use

Everything you enter is processed only in this browser.

    1. 01

Open the PDF you want to turn into Word

    2. 02

Check the content in the preview

    3. 03

Press Convert to Word to download the docx

How it works and good to know

The converter is the GenOffice (Apache-2.0) PDF-to-Word conversion adapted for the browser; about 8 MB is downloaded the first time it opens. .pdf files up to 50 MB can be opened, and conversion runs on this device, so the file is never sent to a server. Text becomes paragraphs, tables become Word tables and pictures stay pictures, but multi-column or complex layouts can come out slightly different from the original. Scanned pages have no readable text (there is no OCR), so they go in as pictures. Password-protected PDFs ask for the password when you convert. If you edit text in the preview, the edited text is converted.

PDF to Word Converter (PDF to DOCX) guide

PDF to Word without uploading the file

Most PDF-to-Word sites upload your file to a server to convert it. That is uncomfortable for documents like contracts, résumés or transcripts. This converter runs the open-source GenOffice (Apache-2.0) PDF-to-Word conversion in your browser, so the file never leaves this device.

    What gets carried over

Text becomes paragraphs, tables become Word tables and pictures stay pictures. Font names, sizes and bold are followed as closely as possible. Multi-column pages or overlapping text boxes can still come out a little different from the original, so skim the result in Word once.

    What it can’t do

Scanned PDFs are photos rather than text, so their text can’t be read (there is no OCR) and they go in as pictures. Password-protected PDFs ask for the password when you convert. To fix the PDF itself instead of converting it, use Edit PDF Text.

PDF to Word Converter (PDF to DOCX) FAQ

Is my file uploaded to a server?

No. After the converter is downloaded once, the PDF is read only on this device and the docx is built and downloaded here.

Does it handle Korean or Japanese text?

Korean, English, Japanese and Chinese text is carried over as is. Fonts are kept by name, so if the device running Word lacks a font, a similar one is shown.

    Can large files be converted?

It opens files up to 50MB. PDFs with many pages or pictures take a little longer to convert.
