How to use Special Characters
Search by name
Search for the character you need, such as heart or arrow. You can also use the symbol itself or a Unicode number. Search applies within the category you have currently selected.
Choose what clicking does
Choose Copy now if you only need a single symbol, or Add to text if you want to combine several characters.
Build your text and check it
Type your own text and add symbols to it. If you add something by mistake, you can go back to the previous state with Undo. You can also check the selected character's name and Unicode.
Paste it where you will use it
Copy text moves the whole content. The look can differ by device and font, so check it in the real app. Your composed text disappears when you refresh.
What it’s good for
Find the special character you need quickly
Search by name, such as heart, arrow or check, or type the symbol itself or its Unicode number. Narrow the candidates by choosing a category, then click a character to copy it. You can also see the selected character's name and Unicode separately.
Emoji collection: find 1,914 emoji by words
The Emoji tab shows all 1,914 emoji up to Unicode Emoji 17.0, grouped into smileys, people, animals, food, travel, activities, objects, symbols and flags. Names and search terms come from Unicode CLDR data, so "thanks" finds 🙏, "heart" finds about 40 heart emoji and "bus" finds vehicles. For hand and people emoji you can pick a skin tone before copying, and recently used emoji are kept only in this browser. The new emoji in 18.0, released in April 2026, are not included because many devices still show them as empty boxes.
Compose text from several symbols
If you switch to Add to text and then click characters, the selected symbols are appended to your composed text. You can type your own text and add symbols to it, and Clear and undo of the last edit are supported. Use the copy button to take the finished text all at once.

When the result isn’t what you expected
There are no search results
Switch the category to All or try a shorter name. Not every Unicode character is provided, so characters not in the list will not be found.
The symbol is not added to my text
Copy now mode only changes the clipboard. Switch to Add to text and then select a symbol. If you have reached the input limit, you need to shorten the content.
It shows as a box or a different picture
The font in the app you pasted into may not support that character, or the emoji design may differ by device. Try a different font or character. Older devices may show recent emoji (15.0 to 17.0) as empty boxes.
The emoji list does not appear
The Emoji tab downloads its name data when you open it. Check your internet connection and click Try again. Once downloaded, it is not downloaded again when you switch between tabs.
Key terms

Special Characters FAQ
Why does a copied character look different?
Even for the same Unicode character, the look can vary by operating system, app and font. Emoji in particular are designed differently on each device, so check it where you paste it.
What if automatic copying does not work?
Check your browser's clipboard permission, or select the character shown and copy it manually.
How much text can I enter in the composer?
Up to 1,000 characters. The content is not saved to a server and disappears when you close or refresh the page.
Can I keep undoing?
It undoes only the last edit, one step. Even right after clearing, you can click Undo to restore the previous text.
Is an emoji always a single character?
Even if it looks like one shape, it can be made of several characters internally. The input limit and the character-count rules of other services can differ.
