How to use Voice Recorder
Start recording
Click Start recording and the browser asks about microphone use. If you allow it, recording starts right away and the elapsed time appears on screen.
Pause and resume if you need to
Click Pause and the time stops; click Resume and it joins onto the earlier part. It is saved as a single file.
Listen and choose
Click Stop and it is added to the list below. Check it in the player, then save only what you need and delete the rest.
Save it as a file
Click Save and it downloads under a name that includes the recording time. The list disappears when you leave the page, so save first.
What it’s good for
Capture meeting notes and ideas right away
Click Start recording and allow microphone use when the browser asks, and it starts immediately. If you need to pause for a moment, pause and then resume recording; time does not count up while paused. When you finish, listen in the list right away and save only the ones you like.
What format is it saved in?
The audio formats a browser can make differ, so this tool chooses from the formats that browser actually supports, and the saved file's extension matches the real format. Most browsers save as webm and some environments as m4a. It never just renames the extension to pretend to be another format.

When the result isn’t what you expected
It says microphone use was denied
Change the microphone to Allow using the lock icon next to the address bar or the site settings, then try again. Once you deny it, the browser often does not ask again.
It says another program is using the microphone
It will not open if a video meeting or recording program is holding the microphone. Close that program and click again.
It says no sound was recorded
The microphone input was muted or the wrong device was chosen. Check the input device and volume in your device's sound settings, then record again.
The saved file does not play
Formats differ by browser, so some players may not be able to open a webm audio file. Try another player or browser, and if needed, convert it with a conversion tool.

I allowed the microphone but it does not record
It will not open if another program is using the microphone. This tool tells you the reason, distinguishing permission denied, no microphone and in use by another program, so please check the notice on screen. Recording works only over a secure connection.
How long can I record?
Up to 30 minutes. It warns you after 25 minutes and stops by itself at 30 minutes, keeping the recording up to that point.
Is my recording uploaded to a server?
No. Recording, playback and saving all happen only inside this browser. When you leave the page, the microphone connection is closed and the list disappears, so save any files you need first.
Does it turn what I recorded into text?
No. It is a tool that records sound and saves it as a file.
Does it remove background noise?
No. It captures the sound that comes in through the microphone as is. Recording in a quiet place with the microphone close makes it clearer.
What happens if I close the window while recording?
The recording stops and is not saved. The microphone connection is also closed immediately. For an important recording, click Stop and save it before closing the window.
