How it works and good to know
Takes one file up to 4 GB and 3 hours. MP3 re-compresses the audio at a constant 128, 192, 256 or 320 kbps, so some quality is lost; size is bitrate × length ÷ 8 (192 kbps for 3 minutes ≈ 4.3 MB). Original audio keeps the compressed audio as is and only changes the container (AAC → M4A, Opus → OGG), with no quality loss. The file is read a piece at a time and never sent to a server. Browsers that can’t decode the audio (such as iOS/Safari 16.4–18) convert files up to 20 minutes long to MP3. Videos without an audio track are reported instead of producing an empty file. There is no downloading from YouTube links.
