How to use Image to PDF

    1. 01

Gather photos and check the content

The order you add photos in is the page order. Check that small text on receipts or scanned photos is readable. You can also test the real file creation process with 3 sample photos.

    2. 02

      Arrange the order

Move photos with the Earlier and Later buttons under each one, and delete the ones you don't need. You can tell similar photos apart by looking at the file name and order number together.

    3. 03

      Choose the paper and margin

If you need a consistent document size, choose A4. If you have many landscape photos, compare the landscape orientation. Adding a margin to the photo ratio also increases the outer size of the page. Photos are fitted without cropping, so space may be left if the ratios differ.

    4. 04

Create the PDF and save it

After creating the PDF, save it. If you change the photo order or paper, you need to create the result again. Before submitting, open the PDF and check the page order and text sharpness.

    What it’s good for

Organize scanned photos and images for submission into a PDF

When you add photos, one page is created per photo. You can change the order with the Earlier and Later buttons under each page, and delete just the photos you don't need. Choosing A4 arranges photos of different proportions into a consistent document size.

Choosing A4 paper or the photo's ratio

A4 can be used for printing or document submission, and the photo ratio for keeping each photo's width-to-height shape. Photos are fitted within the page without cropping, and you can choose no margin, narrow or default. Large photos are scaled down to 4,000px on the long side, and animated images are handled as a single frame.

    Worked examples

Three photos into a landscape A4 document

    Input and settings
    3 sample photos
    A4 · landscape · default margin
    Result
    3-page PDF
    Each page 841.89 × 595.28pt
One page is made per photo and all get the same landscape A4 size. Photos are fitted within the margin without cropping.

    Saving with the photo's ratio

    Input and settings
    One 960 × 640px photo
    Photo ratio · no margin
    Result
    1-page PDF
    720 × 480pt
This mode converts 1px of the normalized image to 0.75pt. The pt in a PDF is a different unit from screen pixels.

When the result isn’t what you expected

    HEIC can't be selected

Export as JPG, PNG or WebP and then add it. Changing only the extension to JPG does not change the actual format.

There's space left even with no margin

If the photo and page ratios differ, space is left in the process of fitting without cropping. Compare by changing the page orientation or the photo ratio option.

The PDF file size is too large

A document made of photos can get large. Shrink the photo sizes with the image compressor, or split it into fewer pages. It does not automatically match a fixed target size.

    Key terms

    pt
A unit of length in PDF; 72pt is 1 inch.
    Keep ratio
Scales width and height by the same factor so the photo isn't distorted.

    Image to PDF FAQ

Can PNG and WebP be turned into a PDF too?

JPG, PNG and WebP are supported. For HEIC, convert it to JPG or PNG first.

How many can I convert at once?

Up to 20 images, 20MB per file and 100MB total input. The internal converted images and the result PDF are each handled up to 100MB.

Does the text in a photo become editable text?

It places photos on PDF pages. It does not include OCR that recognizes text or turns it into editable text.

    Can I add more photos?

If you select more within the limits, they are added after the existing list. If reading the new batch of files fails, the existing photos are kept and an error is shown.

    Is an animated WebP kept?

The animation is not kept; one frame is placed on the page. To be sure of using the scene you want, save it as a still image and add that.
